PARENTING

Addressing the volatile issue of parenting can be a daunting task, as there are many differing theories from many different directions.

Some work well and many do not work well. This is about the ones THAT DO WORK well, and work well with ALL children.

The methods I recommend have a long, long history of having a positive outcome with hundreds of thousands of children, and across the board of all differing demeanors.

It starts with the parent learning the value of having "emotional" control, and then learning to pass this on to the youngsters.

Some may scoff at what I just said, but you may want to ask, "Is what I'm doing now working"? If not, then you are going to have to "change" the methods, if you want the outcome to be different.

Your children CAN grow to be responsible, trustworthy and loyal. I will guide you as to how to make this happen.

This is a subject that continues to be surrounded with confusion as well as controversy, and seems to have been for as long as time is. Leaves one to question the best direction to take?

For beginners there are the myriad (many and confusing), traits, behaviors and circumstances that lead a child to the behavior being presented.  In addition there is the challenge of shaping the behavior the parent desires to instill in their offspring.

Add to this mix the different degrees of mental, as well as emotional influences that 'came with the package' at birth and the skill required to first recognize, and then to effectively deal with in a nurturing way, and more often than not the parent is in 'overload'.

It takes a whale of a lot of understanding and patience in addition to skill to be an effective parent, most especially when challenged by a child that has a strong propensity (that is 'it is easier to have a mind of it's own than it is to be compliant') to have difficulty in making adjustment to the teaching of the parent.

There is no possible way to use a 'paint brush' method when it comes to raising a child, in other words, 'one size fits all' and at the same time have a favorable outcome. As much as it is a breeze to raise some, it is more often a challenge with most, and with some a very difficult task for sure.

Most people rely on what was passed down through the generations with occasional modifications "hoping" to eventually "get"  it right ! Operating on hunches and or intuition that it will all play better "next" time !

I'm here to say there is an antidote to the yelling, screaming, fighting, defiance, disobedience that is so prevalent with so many children. This will likely involve some re-education and/or education to begin with on establishing productive methods of discipline that will assure the desired outcome.

There is a long and proven valid history of effectiveness using the methods you will be introduced to. For more than fifty years now these methods have been used in practice as well as in clinical studies with positive outcomes involving children from birth to post teens. With children with no obvious behavioral issues to those that are aberrant and very difficult to manage.

The real reward is when even the very disruptive become compliant  and trustworthy. I will be the first to acknowledge that in some cases the road will have a lot of bumps and you may even wonder if it is all worth it, and I will respond 'it is your Childs life and it's future and happiness that is on the line'. In many cases the child has issues that were NOT of it's making, or of your making. Often the child didn't "just choose" to be the way it is, and intervention to instill emotional health becomes parental responsibility.

It is hard to go into further detail here as each situation comes with it's own circumstances. Please contact me for an appointment and we can discuss the available options that will be best suited for you.
