You "Can " Change the Way you Feel!

The pathway from childhood to adulthood comes with many challenges.  The navigation of this transition is often difficult to say the least!  Learning to be prepared to meet these challenges often has the company of many distractions.  From parents with confusing parenting skills, to not having parents to begin with! Add to this the economic woes, learning difficulties, peer pressures, social skills, esteem problems, interruptions of opportunity, and other distractions that crop up and things can get pretty crowded in the head!  Feelings of being inferior, being easily frustrated, and angered are not uncommon feelings that pile up in the transition to adulthood!  Add to this mix the problems of love and relationships, as well as the lack of education and awareness of sexual issues and how to deal with them as they come up can be confusing and undermining of feelings of confidence!  Unfortunately many parents did not have good teacher or role models to follow to begin with and as a result are handicapped as how to address some of these issues as they come up in the young ones lives.  Always try to keep in mind that this topic cannot be covered with a paint brush.  Each individual is unique in how they have written this 'script' in their head that directs their feelings and emotions.  Just as it is with you, and every one else!  Putting the wheels on the wagon and keeping them on is sometimes an on going task for all!  Engaging in the 'comparison" game often leads to self-downing and feelings of inferiority.  Feelings that are confusing and not easily understood.  In trying to fend for themselves they end up engaging in various ways to self defeating behavior.  Assisting them in finding a way 'out' is a rewarding experience, as well as one that often comes with many, and sometimes, unexpected challenges.  Seeing the excitement of new found confidence and self respect in their eyes and voice indeed makes the effort well worth while.
